Best Techniques for Clean Fish Finder Screen
Screen clarity is very important when you are looking for fish. Water marks, dirt, and dust are just some of the factors that can affect how well you can see the objects on the screen. That’s why it’s important to clean your screen from time to time. In the long run, neglecting can even cause damage to your screen. Both techniques below can be utilized to effectively clean your screen.
Using Soft Microfiber Cloth and Water
Anti-reflective coating on modern screens is very sensitive. Use of any rough materials is discouraged. That’s why your cleaning cloth should be either microfiber or soft cotton cloth. The cleaning process is straightforward. Soak the cloth in warm water and just wipe the screen several times, if you see some stubborn smudges, you can add you can create a 1:1 mixture of distilled water and white vinegar. This will clean even the dirtiest of screens.
I want to point out that the latter should be applied only on non-LCD screens!
Using Screen Cleaning Products
Screen cleaners purchased at the supermarket come in two types. Either in a spray bottle or as a wipes. If you have a spray version, simply spray your screen (keep the bottle 20 cm away from the screen) and wipe it off with some paper towels. When it comes to wipes, you can use them in the same manner as you would use microfiber cloth. If you bought the actual screen friendly wipes, you can use them as LCD screen cleaner as well.
Make sure you purchase the right product! Using wipes for furniture or bathroom is not a good choice! Additionally, using commercial chemical glass cleaners is something you should avoid. It can damage your screen!
Additional Tips to Keep Your Fish Finder Screen Clean
Apply Screen Protector
Just like mobile phones, fish finder screens also have screen protectors that can be applied to them. They don’t just protect the screen from ugly water spots, some of them have various protective coatings such as UV coating. Applying one of these would prolong the life of your screen and the need to clean your fish finder screen would be minimal.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals
I mentioned this above, but it’s extremely important to understand that chemicals can cause damage to your screen. Especially if it’s a touch screen. Even though isopropyl alcohol can be used for cleaning if it’s applied to a soft cloth, you should never spray it directly onto the screen. Of course, the usage of any cleaning product with abrasive chemicals is highly discouraged.
Clean Screen Bezel
When you clean the fish finder screen, don’t clean just the surface where you are looking for fish. Clean the plastic bezel around it as well. It holds your screen and dirt can get underneath it as well. The bezel can be cleaned in the same way as the screen. Use a soft cleaning cloth or microfiber cleaning cloth.
